Forex VPS for MetaTrader

A forex VPS is a Windows server in a data centre that keeps MetaTrader 4 or 5 and your Expert Advisors running while your own computer is off. Virteche Cloud runs them in Ashburn, Virginia and Dallas, Texas: pick the one with the lower ping to your broker.

Why It Suits MetaTrader

schedule

Runs while you're away

Your Expert Advisors keep trading when your computer sleeps, restarts or goes offline.

network_ping

Two US locations

Ashburn for the East Coast and New York area, Dallas for central US. Measure your latency to each above.

terminal

Browser console

Check that MetaTrader is still running from the dashboard, even if Remote Desktop will not connect.

shield

Firewall, free

Allow Remote Desktop only from your own addresses, so the server isn't open to password-guessing bots.

Windows Server

2025, 2022 or 2019, with a licence from us on plans that offer it, or your own.

upgrade

Resize later

Move to a larger plan from the dashboard when you add terminals, paying the difference for the rest of the period.

Setting It Up

  1. 1

    Choose the location and plan

Pick the location nearest your broker's trade server, choose Windows Server as the operating system, and set an Administrator password.
  2. 2

    Secure Remote Desktop

Connect as Administrator, install Windows updates, and allow Remote Desktop only from your own address with the firewall on the server's page. Connecting to a Windows VPS covers both.
  3. 3

    Install MetaTrader

Download MetaTrader from your broker's website inside the VPS, sign in to your trading account, and load your Expert Advisors and indicators.
  4. 4

    Disconnect, don't sign out

Close the Remote Desktop window when you leave. Signing out from the Start menu closes MetaTrader too.
  5. 5

    Survive restarts and updates

Sign in automatically and start MetaTrader on sign-in, then set Windows Update to install only when you choose. The full guide has each step.

Good to Know Before You Order

  • infoWe provide the server only: no trading software, signals or advice.
  • infoYour ping to the broker depends on where the broker's server is. Check it in MetaTrader after setting up.
  • infoWindows installs updates and restarts on its own schedule unless you change it, which can stop an Expert Advisor mid-week.
  • infoBackups are an add-on. Keep a copy of your Expert Advisors and settings elsewhere too.

Questions

Why run MetaTrader on a VPS?expand_more

MetaTrader only trades while the terminal is open. On your own computer an Expert Advisor stops when the computer sleeps, restarts or loses its connection. On a VPS it keeps running in a data centre, whether your computer is on or not.

Which location should I choose?expand_more

The one with the lower ping to your broker's trade server. Ashburn, Virginia is the closer of our two locations to the New York area, where many brokers host their servers; Dallas, Texas is central US. Your broker can tell you where its server is.

How much memory do I need?expand_more

Windows Server itself uses about 2 GB, and each MetaTrader terminal adds a few hundred megabytes, more with many charts or heavy indicators. Every plan in the table has enough for several terminals; check Task Manager after a day to see your real use.

Can I run more than one terminal or broker?expand_more

Yes. Install each terminal into its own folder, or run copies in portable mode, and they run side by side. The setup guide shows both.

Does Virteche provide trading software, signals or advice?expand_more

No. We provide the Windows server only. Your broker provides MetaTrader and the trading account. What you run on the server, and any risk that comes with trading, is your own.
